'Trapped in a Dreadful Dream': Relatives of Unaccounted For Teenagers Desperately Seek News After Alpine Blaze
The loved ones of young people missing after a devastating blaze at a bar in a Switzerland's winter destination are confronting an agonising period of uncertainty for confirmed information and appealing for information about their children publicly.
The inferno engulfed the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the early hours of the first day of the year. Circulated video reveal the ceiling catching alight as beverages with sparklers are raised in celebration.
Authorities have warned that it could take considerable time to identify the those who perished of the fire, which resulted in the death of numerous partygoers and injured another scores more. Officials noted on Friday that the majority of the those hurt have been identified, with efforts continuing to locate the final individuals.
In the meantime, loved ones have been taking to online platforms to plead for any news about their missing relatives who were present at the venue that evening.
Appeals for the Unaccounted For
The location of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are currently unknown, according to an public plea from his mother.
The who lives of Lutry near the city, informed a local newspaper that she had returned to the city to check whether he was in the hospital, while his father did the same in the capital, but could not find him.
"This is a living nightmare, an ordeal. Either I find my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in critical condition. Words cannot describe it," she told the paper.
She continued that some of his companions had been discovered with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "There are no words; they experienced a terrifying ordeal."
The Italian government has indicated that six of its citizens have not been located.
One of those is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old sportsman, originally from Italy but now residing in Dubai.
The Italian Golf Federation has said that he is no longer with us, without directly referencing the tragedy, honoring a "talented young man who represented dedication and authentic values."
His parent, told media that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around midnight. An official spokesperson has indicated that a formal confirmation of his death is not yet.
Other Missing Individuals
Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is also among the missing. His parent said that he had been on vacation but had gone out with friends and ended up at the venue.
"A close friend informed me they escaped after the fire broke out and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a certain point he they were separated," she recounted, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.
One of his educators stated, "I remember his kindness and positive demeanor, alongside great maturity. Every time offer to get me a coffee."
Alice Kallergis, who holds both Swiss and Greek nationality but lives full-time in the country, was also present on that night, according to reports.
Her sibling has published an urgent request on social media, saying the relatives has had "no updates" regarding the teenager or the three friends she was with, who are also reported missing.
Consular authorities from her country of origin say they are actively engaged with the situation.
