The Reform UK leader Claims Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics
The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike within weeks a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by telling students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.
During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, Farage outlined his perspective on the UK education system, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.
“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators soon after securing a victory,” Farage commented in response to questions.
“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They promote this harmful mindset.”
Reacting to these assertions, the head of a major education union rejected the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.
“The politician has crafted his political career on dog-whistle politics and currently, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a conflict,” the union leader said.
“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”
Reform, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.
However, his comments suggested the group would reform the system and the curriculum. He said: “We have got a massive job with schooling – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, years to turn this around.”
He stated that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Honoring Charlie Kirk, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind rather than what’s happening now where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
Farage has accused Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted at school, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.
Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.
Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in schools and millions of days of lost learning for children.
During the American gathering, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I mean this. I’ll assist garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to these educational programs. I pledge this now and I will follow through.”
The institution, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of freedom. It offers these beautiful courses for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
