Jennifer Lawrence has declared that she no longer feels appropriate to speak out regarding the Trump presidency, worried it could worsen unhelpful debate and increase separation across the United States.

During a discussion, Lawrence reflected, “During the first Trump administration, I thought I was acting frantically like a chicken with my head cut off. But it’s become clear, election after election, Hollywood stars do not make a difference whatsoever on electoral choices.”

The actor went on, “What’s the point? I’m just expressing personal views on an issue that’s going to add fuel to a fire dividing the nation apart.”

Shifting Views

Lawrence has spoken candidly about voting for both right and leftwing contenders over the years. Raised by a right-leaning family in her home state, she supported the Republican nominee in 2008 before joining the left-leaning politics and revealing she understood during Obama’s administration that backing conservatives was undermining her individual liberties as a female citizen.

Earlier Remarks

Several years ago, she stated that Donald Trump’s election might signal “a disaster” and endorsed the Democratic candidate in the 2020 presidential race. During the most recent election, she gave her endorsement to Vice President Harris, “since I believe she’s an excellent choice and I know that she will do whatever she can to protect reproductive rights.”

Industry Position

Lawrence was joined by many in the entertainment industry in her opposition to Donald Trump as a presidential contender, but the minimal impact stars have over the voting intentions was highlighted by his election win.

“This upcoming term seems distinct,” noted Lawrence about his leadership. “As he stated his intentions. We understood his record for four years. He was transparent. And voters made that decision.”

“There was concern regarding my baby,” she commented, “envisioning every negative outcome, and then second-guessing everything that I was doing. I was already in therapy, but I got on a medication called that medicine and I continued it for a short period and it really helped.”

The actor also spoke about the empowering aspect of filming without clothes in the project while she was in pregnancy and couldn’t work out.

“It feels nice,” she commented, regarding the need to cast off vanity. “Truly, I sometimes think where I’m like, What separates me between myself and a sex worker? But it doesn’t keep me up at night.”
