Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was natural for questions to be asked about his position after a further heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in twelve matches, representing the club's poorest streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got plenty of backing from management,” Slot stated.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory of course but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot explained:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal exchanges I feel the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this game yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over recurring shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side going through a phase such as this with performances like these.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is removed, we'll continue to compete.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to the top, prove once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
