Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, his management team had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the loss of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge comes as the sports world shared sympathy for the champion in the following the heartbreaking incident.
